Simply The P90X and Insanity Workout Meal Plans
This is not just some protein shake. It's got over 70 ingredients in it, which you'd have a hard time finding in the first place, let alone put together at an economical price. You can use Shakeology as a meal replacement shake – although you could use it as healthy snack as well, if you’re not needing to replace meals. It currently comes in Chocolate and Greenberry flavors, as well as Vegan Chocolate and Vegan Tropical Strawberry (my favorite). When you order, you receive a card with
different ideas for shake recipes to help you mix it up.
I started Shakeology about 1/3 of the way through my first round of P90X because I kept
screwing up my lunches. I can honestly say that while it’s light in the stomach, it does a
great job of keeping me feeling full. I have my shake, and then a P90X protein bar as a
snack later in the afternoon, and I’m all good until dinner.
The chocolate is very chocolately, which I love. One thing that surprised me is that my
cravings for chocolate, and junk overall, have gone way down. If my kiddos have a
chocolate candy or we take them out for ice cream as a treat, I don’t want to just grab
their food and wolf it down anymore. I get a super chocolately shake every day, and if I
want a creamy-style I make it with milk instead of water.
My elimination also increased a bit. I’ve been taking fiber tablets every day for about 10
years so regularity hasn’t been an issue for me, so this surprised me. Best thing is, I also have a noticable jump in energy, and can tell when I don't drink it.
Cholesterol has never been an issue for me, but check out the user comments at the bottom of the page that have come in since I created this page to see how it's helped others SIGNIFICANTLY with this.
What’s in it? How does it compare to other products?
A scoop of shake by itself is 150 cals. Obviously a little more if you mix it up with a cup
of skim milk or add a banana or some berries as some of the recipes call for. Have you ever heard of wheat grass, acai, goji berry, sacha inchi or chia seeds? These are just a few of the supefood ingredients. It's got:
Protein and amino acids help build muscles and reduce food cravings.
Prebiotics and digestive enzymes aid in digestion, regularity, and nutrient
absorption. (remember the bit I said before about elimination?)
Antioxidants and phytonutrients help fight off degenerative diseases.
A daily dose of vitamins and minerals to provide your body what it needs to
There are a ton of competitor products out there, I can’t begin to address them all. You
can check out the ingredients for chocolate and greenberry (tropical coming Valentine's Day 2012) and read more about it on the Shakeology info site so
you can make your own determination. There’s plenty of videos there to show you that
it’s not just some protein shake.
What I can say from personal experience is that it does a great job of keeping me full.
My husband for a while was buying giant bags of straight whey protein at Costco and mixing that
up for a hold-me-over shake. He was getting hungry. Not so with Shakeology.
I've got some FAQs below, but first see what doctors are saying:
Learn more about the ingredients:
Is it vegan?
Chocolate and Greenberry are not because they use whey protein. Vegan Chocolate and Vegan Tropical Strawberry are.
Chocolate and Greenberry has 15 grams of whey protein, what if I'm lactose intolerant?
Simple, try Vegan Chocolate or Vegan Tropical Strawberry. But as far as regular Chocolate and Greenberry, the whey protein (which is derived from milk) is whey protein isolate - it's over 90% pure protein, leaving less than 10% (or 1.5 grams) of ingredient where lactose can be found. Lactase (the same ingredient found in Lactaid or other over the counter lactose digestion aids) is also included. That makes it more likely to be acceptable for those with lactose intolerance, and there are lactose intolerant people who use it. However, you should of course check with your doctor, and it's best to start with a small amount build up from there, so you can monitor your reaction.
What if I order it and I don’t like it?
Beachbody has a bottom of the bag guarantee, which means you can send it back within
30 days, even if the bag’s empty, and they’ll refund you (less shipping).
How much does it cost?
For Vegan Chocolate and Vegan Tropical Strawberry, $119.95 for a month’s supply, for regular Chocolate or Greenberry, the price recently went up for the first time since the product was released to $129.95 for a month's supply. You can choose a bag with a scoop, or you can choose on-the-
go packets. Ordering on Home Direct means you get free shipping each month.
Todd and I as Beachbody Coaches also offer an option to do 10 day supply in packets. 10 days is enough for most people to form an opinion. Contact us for details on this option.
Many people balk at the cost upfront, let me give you a few ideas about how to defray
When you order, choose Home Direct. This means it will be shipped to you
automatically every month, and by choosing this option you get free shipping, plus 2
free workouts and a shaker cup. You can of course cancel anytime, so you might as well just order on Home Direct and save the shipping.
Consider becoming a Beachbody Coach. It gives you a 25% discount on all
products, so your cost knocks down to about $90. Combine this with Home Direct
and that’s a $45 per month savings.
Consider becoming a Team Beachbody Club member, which gives you 10% off.
Being a Club member costs $2.99 per week and gives you access to awesome
recipes, VIP chats with the trainers like Tony Horton, etc etc.
If you just order it at the straight out retail price, $120 for the Vegan flavors divided by 30 days equals about $4 per meal, $130 for regular Chocolate and Greenberry works out to $4.33. If you become a Coach so you can get the 25% discount, it’s $90 divided by 30 days equals $3 per meal for the Vegan versions, a few cents more for the non-vegan. How much do you spend on your lunch or dinner each day now?
For me, it was more a matter of shifting my mindset – I looked at my grocery budget and decided I could spend it on whatever I was spending it on, or I could decide that I was
going to dedicate the cost toward covering 30 of my meals that I knew would help me stay on track with my fitness goal, guaranteed. The added plus was the energy boost it gives.
It also made me take a hard look at how much I was spending at the drive-through each
month – when I started P90X I knew I had a going-out-to-eat habit. A lot of that was
for drive-through – it was more about the convenience than the food. I’m now re-
directing my funds toward something healthier. I am not perfect, but we go through the drive through a LOT less. Because of being more conscious about cash AND nutrition, we pack better snacks more often for my kids instead of buying food on the go, and are being
super careful about the food choices we make when we do go. Gotta love that diet plan.
Consider the fact that the ingredients in Shakeology are a lot healthier than what you can
get for $4 at the drive-through and it looks like a good option indeed. If you were to buy the ingredients that are in Shakeology separately it would cost over $400 - and then if it's like it is at my house, a lot of that would sit in the back of the fridge and rot. :P
The best way to know if you’ll like it is to try it and use it regularly. You can order
Shakeology here. Again, I recommend becoming a Beachbody Coach first and ordering it on
Home Direct when you sign up for the maximum savings.
If you are not sure about Shakeology yet then
sign up for a Free Beachbody Account and send me a question. Since Beachbody offers

and diet journey as well!
